Nails For Different Projects

12/04/2025 13

General construction: Use common nails, typically they have a large head and are suitable for basic building tasks.

Flooring: Use durable flooring nails with a smaller head and a blunt point to minimize the risk of splitting the wood when securing floorboards.

Trim and molding: Use finish nails/brads for fine trim work.

  • Finish nails are with a small and rounded head designed to be driven slightly below the surface and covered with putty.

  • Brads are a smaller, thinner version, ideal for light assembly.

Temporary construction: Use duplex nails with a second head that allows for easy removal after the project is complete.

Drywall: Use drywall nails designed to hold drywall boards securely. Drywall nails have ringed shanks to prevent slipping.
